We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our office and to give you an idea of what you may expect of your consultation visit.
The specialty of periodontics exists to help people retain or replace their natural teeth by establishing and maintaining healthy tooth or dental implant supporting structures. Therapy consists of an individualized program determined by the type and extent of your dental needs together with the functional and/or cosmetic results you desire. Your initial appointment will be used to review your past medical and dental history and for a comprehensive examination to determine the nature and extent of your dental problem(s).
Generally, a second visit will be needed to review the findings and to discuss the treatment alternatives available for restoring your good dental health and to allow adequate time to fully address any questions you may have. The time between these appointments is needed to review our findings and for us to consult with your dentist so that the most appropriate treatment plan(s) for assisting you can be developed.
Approximately one hour will be reserved for your initial examination appointment. If necessary, we may request to take dental x-rays and/or clinical photographs to aid our evaluation and treatment planning. Emergency treatment necessary to relieve pain or an acute infection will take precedence over the regular consultation.
Successful periodontal care requires cooperation and understanding between yourself and those assisting you. It is important that we take this time so that we have a good understanding of your situation and to be certain that you understand any proposed treatment and your role in this therapy. Any questions you have regarding your dental care are welcome. Your active participation in your dental care is essential in achieving and maintaining good oral health.
We look forward to meeting you soon!
