After dental school, Dr. Lareau moved to Minneapolis where he spent one year in a General Practice Residency at the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center before entering the graduate program in Periodontology here at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He completed his Master of Science Degree in 1983 and received second place honors at the Annual American Academy of Periodontology Balint Orban Memorial Competition for research in periodontics by graduate students.
Since then, Dr. Lareau has been in full time private practice at Centennial Lakes Medical Center in Edina. In his practice, Dr. Lareau provides a full range of periodontal services including hard and soft tissue reconstructive treatments and implant dentistry, with a special emphasis on achieving exceptional functional and cosmetic results. Optimizing periodontal health is also emphasized.
Dr. Lareau enjoys teaching part-time in the University of MN graduate periodontal clinic, as well as periodically lecturing to the graduate students in other dental specialty programs.
Dr. Lareau is passionate about his profession, is committed to lifelong learning, and participates in numerous advanced professional development courses. He is a member of a Seattle Study Club and leads a Spear Study Club, both of which are dedicated to the development of higher levels of clinical, diagnostic, and treatment planning knowledge and skills.
Outside of the office, Dr. Lareau enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
